one (a giveaway!)

Thanks for your lovely comments on my last post. You guys are awesome.

So this little blog is turning one year old in a few days and I thought I would do a giveaway to celebrate. Here's the details (top to bottom):

- Fleece Artist Merino 2/6 handdyed sock (or anything you want) yarn
- Fleece Artist Suri Blue laceweight (alpaca/blue faced leicester)
-The Plucky Knitter merino superwash sock yarn
- Mission Falls 136 Merino Superwash (2)
- Erika Knight's 'Simple Knits for Little Cherubs'
- Fiber Optic Yarns merino/tencel spinning fiber - 4 oz (says 100% merino but there's also tencel - this adds strength which is good for socks)

I chose these because I love them all and thought you might, too. The Fleece Artist and Mission Falls are also Canadian, and I don't know how available they are elsewhere.

So leave a comment about whatever you're doing/thinking/knitting and I'll pick one (boldly assuming there's more than one) using a random number generator on the day of this blogiversary - Friday Jan. 29 - 9:00pm CST. Thanks for stopping by!

And the winner is #1!

  1. chris, these are LOVELY -- but more importantly, you are lovely. happy early blogiversary -- i'm so glad we found each other here in blogland. happy weekend, from me AND boh.

oh, and in the land of what i am doing/knitting -- today, drinking lots of hot toddies, planning a sunshiney walk outside (both for my health!) -- and casting on for snowbird, my new absolute favorite cardigan.

  2. Congratulations and Happy First Anniversary. I have a few items I'm knitting, the major one is a Fair Isle Sweater designed by Kathleen Taylor. When I get bored or need a break I pick up something like a hat, mittens or a cowl as we are having a very cold winter this year.

  3. Congrats on your 1st blogiversary! Knittingwise I'm working on a couple of design projects right now, as well as cranking along on the 10 shawls in 2010 challenge.

What I'd really like to be doing right now is snowshoeing across Lake Mendota in Madison, WI. Alas, what I'm really doing is housework and chores on this grey Chicago day.

  4. Congrats on the year Chris! Love seeing all the beautiful creations you work on.

  5. Happy Blogiversary. Actually, this is my first visit here! I love your header and EZ quote.

I usually knit from my own patterns and am FINISHING a sweater for my bf and another for my daughter for her 6th birthday.

Off to follow you on Ravelry, where I'm bluegal.

  6. Ooh pretties...

Happy blogiversary! I've just cast on for the Peacock Tail and Leaf scarf from Knitted Lace of Estonia in sky blue cashmere, which is pretty awesomely decadent. I'm also taking a weaving class, where I've been weaving a navy and blue patterned fabric to sew a knee-length coat.

  7. Happy Blogaversary! The first year is always the hardest to get to, and then after that you find yourself almost forgetting they happen!

Currently, I'm about to continue knitting away at the ribbing on my Sockhead Hat (using Merino/Bamboo/Silk from Plucky Knitter) and grab a much needed, much belated cup of coffee.

  8. Happy Blorthday! Here in the SF Bay Area we are just now owing in the first ten minutes of sunshine we've had in a week. I'm between projects right now, so the rainy weather has given me a chance to review my pattern mags and books.

Thanks for having a giveaway, this is a beautiful and generous collection of prizes!

  9. hi Chris,
    A whole year! Congratulations.
Today was a busy one, but I did manage to work on a little baby shrug for a friends new granddaugher. Later tonite I might work on spinning some pretty farm roving I have on the wheel. Hope your day was filled with fibery goodness!

  10. Congratulations :)
Well, at the moment I am at work, having my knitting with me of course - garter yoke cardigan and finishing second sleeve. Hopefully finish it till the shift end.
    Have a lovely sunday :)

  11. Happy blogiversary! Love your blog and knitting! :)
At the moment, I'm thinking about summer and I'm about to cast on for a Pikkuveli-cardi in Rowan Denim. I don't know if it will work, but I'll give it a try.

  12. Happy blogiversary! Congrats! I have a few fun things on my needles, and these lovelies would compliment them greatly! Cheers!

  13. congrats on your one year blogversary :) loving your craftness. x

  14. So generous! I just recently found your lovely blog. As for what I'm knitting, it's simple ribbed socks with an afterthought heel. I'm not smooth with my Kitchener stitch, so this will give me twice the amount of practice.

    Happy anniversary!

  15. Happy anniversary! I must have started following your blog when it was very new---I guess I never realized because you already had your groove from the beginning.
Now off the computer and onto finish my Asymmetrical Cabled Cardi---poor thing keeps getting pushed aside while I work on other things. Today's its day, though!

  16. What beautiful photos! Congratulations on you blog anniversary.

I cast on yesterday for a Thermis neck warmer and have a hat (a friend's pattern) going also. Spring isn't far away here, so it's a race to get these done while we have a little cool weather left to enjoy them.

  17. congrats on the one year! And wow, what prizes! I'm working on about 100 things right now -- a few sweaters for fall, a top secret project for almost already late, and a number of hats. Plus I have a pair of wonky mittens with one finger left.... think I need to focus??

  18. Congrats on 1 year! Isn't blogging fun? I'm working on a tweed sweater, two norwegian baby caps, finishing up a pair of socks, and just need to sew the ends in on my Ene's so that I can wear it and look fabulous!

  19. Congratulations on a year of blogging! I'm working on socks - I have two pairs that I've been alternating between for the past few days, plus another couple that have been languishing (I'm not sure why).

  20. Oh I remember my first blog-a-versary as if it was yesterday. Happy blog-a-versary to you. What a great giveaway!! I am working on something "pink". I have not disclosed yet because I don't know how it will turn out....so I don't want to jinx myself :) I have never seen that mission yarn here before - weird! I also have not set foot in a yarn store in a long time....my credit card cannot handle such outings :)

  21. Happy Blogaversary, thanks for being part of my morning reading each morning with my coffee before work. I'm currently knitting 4 different socks(why just one?)a knitted skirt, a hoodie, and 2 baby blankets....madly before the babies arrive in June.

  22. Hi Chris ... you and I met at a beginners spinning class several years ago. I just love reading your blog bcuz it's just the kind of blog I would have if I actually had one myself :) Congratulations!

  23. Happy Blogiversary Chris! I'm so glad I stumbled upon your blog...you do amazing work. Right now I'm finishing up a grown up neighborly sweater for myself and making a bunch of fabric cuffs for my daughter's party. Have a great week!
