This my current preoccupation. This and the Norwegian Snail Mittens on this page. Actually, pretty much anything involving more than one colour at a time is fascinating me at the moment. And it's something I really needed to practice. One of my knitterly sorts of dreams is to one day make something Bohusian. For this, I need to be much less inept at working more than one string at once.

Pattern: Ishbel by Ysolda Teague
Yarn: Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock in Denim
There is nothing I don't absolutely love about this. I love Ysolda and everything she dreams up. I love this yarn and its colour. I love that the lace pattern totally kicked my butt last week when I had a cold and wasn't able to concentrate and by missing one stitch that threw everything off but I didn't quite believe I had been thrown off and mis-counted the same 300 stitches 3 times and then had to tediously tink back 4 rows and it took me 2 hours to get back to where I'd been.....I love that about it, in retrospect. It's nice to have to think carefully about something once in a while.

Last year, when I bought what is probably my single most favourite possession, my Lendrum DT spinning wheel...which is made by hand by the extremely talented Gord Lendrum who also happens to be Canadian....from the wonderful Francine who introduced me to spinning and owns Rovings....she threw in a 13oz. bag of Polwarth roving to get me started. It's roughly equally divided into 3 colours: light blue/white, blue and purple. So I decided I would spin my first 3-ply and by separating them out by colour and then putting them together again perhaps achieve a somewhat consistent look to the finished whatever-it-will-be. I figure I'll wait until I know the gauge and meterage before picking a project. I'm hoping for a child-sized sweater.

Fibre: undyed superwash Corriedale from Spunky Eclectic
Dye: Jacquard Acid Dyes from Knitpicks
Destiny: 3-ply spun socks
I know what you're thinking. Man. Those are intense. Esp. #1 and 3. They're more so in person. They're new dyes and it's really hard to judge intensity when everything's wet. I will be my usual subtle self next time. Maybe if I add a bunch of white when I spin these.....
